Leadership and personal development are important parts of not only growing as a person but also the Scouting program. Courses give Scouts opportunities to talk with others who are following a similar path.

Leadership and personal development courses assist Scouts to:

• learn personal and leadership skills
• become active citizens
• learn new ways of thinking or approaches
• confirm learning from experiences
• share with peers
• reflect on individual leadership experiences and development

Leadership and personal development courses may be an:

• internal section course
• extension course
• external course

Leadership and personal development courses will cover some or most of the following concepts:

• problem solving
• communication
• task management
• leadership
• planning
• community involvement
